Hi Corrie,

Sounds like you found the joys of Malitol. This is a sweetener used for candies and chocolates, and has a lower GI and less longer term side effects than many other sweeteners. I enjoy the odd piece of chocolate, or peanut brittle made with this, but it does have a nasty side effect if eats more than a couple of pieces, as you discovered..lol...been there. :) It tends to hasten the digestive process if one eats too much of it. Just a taste is all I need now, so I never go overboard. The nice thing about it is that it is much easier to not binge on chocolate 'cause I know the effects if I eat a whole bar. Two pieces is enough for me now. =)

Enjoy!

Leslie
