Re: Weight LossFrom: Char (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 29 Apr 2001 05:44:26 -0500 (CDT)
Sugar Busters happens to be an excellent book and eating plan to follow for women with pcos and insulin resistance, in addition to an excellent healthy way of eating. It was recommended to me by both of my doctors and has been the only thing that has worked for me with any success and stability. Be prepared to lose slowly, but slow it good, it usually means permanent. And EXERCISE!!!! Buy a bike, take up long walks or hiking, do power yoga, swim laps, go to a gym if you like that, whatever, just do it. Eat a diet of high protein and WHOLE grains (start shopping in a health food store for the grains), with some fruit (on an empty stomach), veges and beans and nuts mixed in, drink water, and stay away from coffee and alcohol and sugar. Don't eat watermelon, pineapple, or bananas. Don't eat white potatoes, carrots, or corn products. I usually begin my morning with a big breakfast....fresh fruit first, then scrambled eggs with a little cheese, and either whole grain cereal or brown rice or 7 grain toast with pure peanut butter and all fruit jelly. Perfectly balanced. 1/2 hour before lunch I have another piece of fruit as a mid-morning snack. And my afternoon snack usually consists of roasted nuts or sunflower seeds, or some whole wheat crackers with cheese. A night time snack if I need it is light yogurt. Lunch and dinner varies....meat or fish with one of the meals, lots of whole grains, maybe beans or veges or salad. It's so easy! Give it a try!
