HI, Sorry about your losses. I also miscarried before I knew I had PCOS. That is what made me seek out a reproductive endocrinologist. Hopefully your OB knows how to treat PCOS. That is half the battle..finding a doctor who knows about latest treatments and testing. If your dieting I would stop until after you get your test results back from your OB...dieting while doing blood tests can give false info on your blood sugar and Insulin levels both which are very important in diagnosing PCOS. You Doctor sould be doing several blood test ...glucose tolarance test, insulin level test, and hormone testing ...especaily free testosterone levels. I was shocked at how much blood they drew on me. They should also do an Ultrasound oF your overies to see if you have cysts on your overies if they have not already done this. It will take about a week before you get your test results back. Then depending weather your doctor wants to prescribe an insulin sensitizer or not you would start taking that immediately. Then you can start Low Carbing and worrying about which diet is best for you. I would recommend consulting with a dietition...ask your doctor for a referal to one. Not all woman with PCOS are insulin resistant and not all have cysts. But they have found that the root problem with PCOS is in the way your body uses and stores insulin and they in fact believe now that it is caused by a defect in the insulin receptor cells.Which means that an insulin sensitizer may be able to help even you do not show signs of IR as of yet. I would look up some info on the web to take to your first appointment and dont be afraid to ask questions and test your doctors knowlegde. If it seems he/she dosent know much I would find another doctor who does. PCOS has obvious health risks if gone untreated. Hope this helped.A good Web Site to print and take to your Doctor is http://www.ivf.com/pcostreat.html Good luck!Dona Good Luck, Dona
