How do you become diagnosed?From: Leslie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 20 Mar 2001 17:18:55 -0600 (CST)
I have 3 different docs (RE, gyn, and primary) as well as my pharmacist suggesting that I may have PCOS and/or be insulin resistant. (I'm also trying to become pregnant without any luck, and have borderline hypothryoidism.) In any event, no one has suggested a test or anything to verify this. I keep seeing people say they were "diagnosed." Is there a test or something that tells you for sure that this is the case? My primary has told me to try sugar busters since a 1200 calorie diet over 9 months only resulted in a 15 pound loss and I asked her what else I should do. My gyn told me to lose weight and I should be able to straighten out my cycles. I feel like I'm missing something (or that they are.)
