Re: PCOS-DIET digest 203From: MK (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 19 Mar 2001 07:25:23 -0800 (PST)
dana, I just wanted to let you know that I too had to give up met because it made me sick all the time and I finally had to admit that it wasn't helping me... I have since started a program called the "liver cleansing diet" it's a diet by Sandra cabot and is essentially a liver cleansing diet that works really well for me. It can easily be adjusted to being vegan (although I eat eggs, chicken and fish). Essentially it is a very healthy diet and is concerned with how much chemical anything you put in your body. It recommends organic food whenever possible (organic eggs, vegtables, etc.) and it suggests that by taking care of your liver, you can alter the state of health for your entire body. Like I said, I think the person who wrote the diet (a codtor in australia) is certainly interested in selling her stuff, but overall I have had a very good experience on her suggestion on ways to alter my normal eating habits. I have strayed a few times with the cheese and red meat and I can always tell the next day when I have... my body does NOT like dairy and only tolerates red meat. :). anyhow here is her web site... http://www.liverdoctor.com she is a little... mmm... flashy, but i have lost weight and I feel much better about life... she recommends a lot of vegetable/fruit juice. I realize it is a bit opposite the common theory of avioding carbs, but with this diet, I still avoid just about anything white. White four, rice, sugar, salt etc. are pretty much off my eating list... but you can have spelt bread, or whole grain rice... basically, I now live at Trader Joe's (a healthy good chain on the west coast) and at the local PCC (food co-op). I can only say that I feel better and I feel that my body feels better. Also, I started to take a liquid tincture of Milk thistle, saw palmetto, don quai and Vitex twice a day. It tastes pretty nasty, and it hasn't started to "help" yet, but natural methods take longer and after 4 months I still hadn't started my period on Met either. I hope this helps and good luck on your journey! MaryKate Get email at your own domain with Yahoo! Mail.
