gloucophage used as a diet drug on non-pcos personFrom: Katrina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 15 Mar 2001 22:59:57 -0600 (CST)
I visited my ob-gyn today and voiced my concern about not losing weight after the birth of my daughter two years ago. I refuse to try again until I drop at least 50 pounds. I asked if I could be put on something to help me since I had tried everything I could think of. He has put me on gloucophage to help me lose weight. My curiosity has brought me in this site. After reading about this drug and women with pcos I am a little concerned. I understand here that women with pcos over produce insulin and there panc is in over drive. Gloucophage is used to slow the production. So if someone with normal fertility is put on this drug to lose weight and there panc begins to over produce, could it cause me problems with getting pregnant again? If anyone is doing the same as I or can provide me with insight into my question...please mail me. I am a little scared at this point to try this. I may have all this backwards and driving myself to worry for no real reason. Thanks....any info will be appreciated.
