Christina...For your own sake, look into seeing an endocrinologist in
the area. I don't know what specialists you have already seen, but look
into the HMR liquid diet. It is a drastic life change, but for me
personally right now it is worth ths sacrifice. The article that is
included in PCOSA membership from Good Houskeeping run in the March 2000
issue will give you a bit more detail, but generally speaking, the
OB/Gyne may be a bit ignorant on the issue. I went into the
endocrinologist w/the article and bloodwork done by my allergist (I also
have severe asthma)and he immediately suggested I start HMR to loose the
weight. I weigh-in tomorrow, however, personally weighing myself at
work yesterday (I started Thurs)I lost 6 lbs. I have also begun to take
glucophage as treatment for the PCOS, and the advantage to doing HMR is
I see the Dr every week now to be monitored. Go in educated and refuse
to take no for and answer, and I am certain you will see results. =)

You have made far more sense that any doctor and as nobody has ever explained to me what insulin resistance is and how it really works and effects me - you really did explain it and now I know what is happening to my own body. So thank you. As you said it is frustrating and as I am looking through the sight I am gaining information so that I can take it to the doctor and make him sit up and listen to me and show him that I am educated in this matter, however I was just wondering if their is anything that you could offer in the way of advice that I could ask my doctor, different medicatin and tests etc. The trouble is that the last time I went to see my specialist he was incrediable rude and hurtful saying that I would die if I didnt loose weight and didn't stand any chance of ever having children, as I am only 22 years old I was scared hurt and angry at him for making
