Re: Vitex-Chaste Tree Berry

Christina, I know a number of ladies who take vitex, all at varying doses. Some ladies find the capsules worked fine for them, while others found that only the tincture seemed to do the trick. Also, the dosage seems to vary for each person. I would suggest that if you were spotting, then that dose was too high for you, and you are better off keeping to the lower dosage. If, after 5 or 6 months, you still see no result, you might want to consider getting an herb grinder (or coffee mill used only for herbs - one that you can pulse so the herbs are not heated) you might wish to consider making your own tincture. It is a lot cheaper than purchasing it by the bottle.

Also, what are you doing with your diet? Are you keeping an eye on the carb intake? Many women will have little or no success with herbs (or medication sometimes) if they can't keep down the carbs. You might also wish to consider having a hot cup of tea with a wedge of lemon in the mornings. It is supposed to help cleanse the liver (or something like that), which makes it easier for the herbs to do their work. I admit, I don't do this regularly, but I know several ladies who swear this has made a difference in their progress with PCOS.
