Re: pcos&high cholesterol-what do I eat/what do I do if I have this?From: ValB (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 1 Feb 2001 10:48:13 -0600 (CST)
Jill, I am no mediacl expert but wanted you to know what I was on and how my doc treated me. Maybe it will help you with your doc. If you keep getting resistance from your doc you need to find one who is knowledgeable about PCOS. I had my blood tests done and my Cholesterol and triclserides came back way high. So along with BCP, 1000mg of Glucophage for IR, she put me on Lipitor to reduce my cholesterol. I have had blood tests done to check and the levels are now on the high normal side. Since you are getting married soon, this may not be an option for yo if you are going tot ry to conceive soon. But it may be an option for the short term while you work on a low carb moderate fat diet. I just can't do the LOW fat thing all the way. So I have lowered my Carbs alot and lowered the fat and cholesterol moderately. I can see a difference in the way clothes fit and I can tell when I eat too much of the wrong thing the day before. I hope this helps you prepare for your wedding. Feel free to email me at Valbtn@aol.com. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I wish many years of bliss for you and your groom.
