PCOS - I never knew it was so widespreadFrom: Tracey (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 Jan 2001 06:42:48 -0600 (CST)
I have not had a natural period since I was 16 and even then I've only had around 4 natural periods. I have never really worried about the absence of periods, in fact I've always been quite pleased, never having to worry about the dreaded monthly pains and stuff. Because I had been seen by Gynae specialists for so long, when I decided to have a baby, I did not have to wait, I was put on clomid for 3 months, which had absolutely no effect whatsoever and then injections for a month, my little boy is now nearly 3 ... I have suffered pain during intercourse, but just put it down to 'one of those things'.. I'm not overly hairy, but boy am I overweight, even when I try and lose weight it is a slow, painful process. It's not until now at 33, that I realise how widespread this disease is. Especially when I read all your notes, it's amazing. I am now being scanned for bone density and for the first time since I was diagnosed at 16 insulin and glucose, maybe they will help me lose weight. I would appreciate any diet plans or ideas anyone has on losing weight. Well, I'll keep reading your postings to find out all the latest news .. and really I am wide-eyed with amazement that their are so many of us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
