Pritikin (Robert Pritikin and his father) started their foundation about 50 years ago. They have two centers, one in Santa monica California, or in Florida. Go to http://www.pritikin.com. You can either go to the center for a week and learn how to do the diet and see thier wonderful female doctors, or you can buy Robert Pritikin's books about the program, and the theories behind it. Two years ago, I lost about 30 lbs on the program. But then I lost motivation and gained back 20. I went back to the center this fall and they were actually the ones to put me on glocophage and explain PSOC. About a week after I left I suffered a really bad knee injury playing in a rugby game- and as I could not excersize for 3 months- I decided to wait on the diet as well (stupid me!). Anyway, I am going back on it and am excited about it. It is simply a very healthy way to eat. You are not "tricking" your body, or depriving yourself. You are just simply eating loads and loads of foods that are low in calory denisty. (corn instead of corn chips, apricots instead of dried apricots) and learing tricks about how to curb cravings without going over board. I highly recomment it. At least look at the website. I hope this helps. If you can afford a trip to the center- go. If not.... buy the book and make the life change. It is totally worth it! Not a diet, more of a life change and education on food.
