Re: Where do I go from here ??????From: anne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 3 Jan 2001 17:46:18 -0600 (CST)
Hi Dawnie. I was diagnosed when i was 19 as having pcos. I am now 29. At the time I was diagnosed i was about 13 stone and 5 foot 3 inches. I had a very unsympathetic consultant who put me on dianette and told me that the best thing i could do would be to lose weight. At the time i wasnt in a relationship and was told that when i want a baby i will need their help to concieve. I have been married for 6 years now and 3 years ago I reached weight watcher target of 9 1/2 stone after two years of dieting. I was still on dianette until 2 years ago when i went for a new prescription i was told that i should only have been on it for 2 years, this was 8 years later! i went onto another pill but after 3 months decided that i would come off it and see if i got a period having lost all the weight. No! not a thing. I have only ever had one period in my life without being on a pill. I have been told that when i wnat to start a family which may well be next year then there is a hormone i can take but i dont know much more at the moment. I thought you may like to know that losing weight doesnt always help pcos. I always battle with my weight and am now 1 1/2 stone over my goal weight and have just joined rosemary connely tonight. I thought it may be good witht the exercise too. WW diet is very easy to follow. But it took me 2 years to lose 4 stone, you cant rush these things! Good luck, Anne
