Mary, although I am not diabetic, my doctor told me to try the meal plan designed by the American Diabetes Association. It seems to be a very well balanced and very satisfying way of eating. In 3-4 weeks I have lost 7 pounds, and I haven't missed a single thing that I love to eat. My favorite morning meal is canadian bacon (3 slices for 60 calories and very low fat) with lightly buttered toast (D'Italiano Light Italian for 40 cal per slice) and maybe some sugar free applesauce. And yogurt is definitely recommended. If you are interested in learning more about this plan, feel free to email me.
