Please to meet you Andrea.

I am on the Diabetic Associations Exchange System. My dietician allows me to have 1500 cal.I am also allowed to have seven starches, four fats, and two milks etc... It is a well balanced meal every meal.I take something from each of the food groups. I use a book called American diabetic Association Carb and fat guide. Each of the food listed in the book have a value placed on it such as 1 starch; 1 carb; fruit vegetables etc.. I keep track in a diary(notebook)I have lost six pounds on this diet and feel great. I also make sure that I drink the water too. I hope this gives a starting point. Go to a bookstore and look for the guides- it is a small green book. BTW- I am only using this plan because of the PCO's/Insulin Resistance. I was referrred to the dietician by my endocrinologist therefore it was paid for by my health plan. Also, I know of a web site where you can chat with dieticians free of charge. the web site is very supportive in the chat rooms too. http://www.dietwatch.com
