Re: New to PCOS, need help!From: kim (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 04 Dec 2000 08:50:35 -0500
Hi, i used aldactone for years with and without bc pills. It really helped the hirtusism (male hair growth), but, did nothing for my weight. I started met in June and have lost almost 40 pounds. I also started eltroxin for my thyroid then too. I don't know which one helped - but something did. I have turned as much white into brown that I could (bread, flour sugar, rice etc) I never eat carbs alone - I always have more protein then carb. I sufferer from really sick stomachs. When you start met this is common. Unfortunatly I have had them years before starting met. The only time I have a solid BM is when I am pregnant - then I usually get constipated. I think the meds and reducing my carbs this has been my answer to weight lose. I have weighed as high as 254. Right now I am 202, hoping to be under 200 when I get pregnant (wishful thinking). One thing I have noticed for sure, is clomid did NOT work for me without metformin. With metformin it works at half the dose I took before the met - with no results. It is very important to get a pcos friendly doc. For 20 years I got the run around. Now I have an RE and a Endo, and I am on the right track - first time in years. HTH Kim
