Some women who have PCOS are insulin resistant. Cutting back on sugars has proven to reduce your risk of developing Diabetes Mellitus.

In my case I was diagnosed with PCOS because I did not ovulate and my cycles ranged from 28 days to well over 70 and I am only 20 now. I was 19 when I was diagnosed.

Doctors have pretty much found out that my weight gain was from low thyroid, which may have also caused my LH and FSH ratio to be imbalanced.

Since I have been on armour thyroid and cut out my sugars I have gone from 240 lbs. to 165 in only 4 months and now I am pregnant. from the age of 13 to 18 I have always hung around 185 lbs. Then I got married and jumped to 240 in about 6 months.

I suggest not using any birth control, ask to learn Natural Family Planning. It will help you to learn your cycles and symptoms better plus you can tell the doctors what's happening to you instead of them having to guess.

But, definately check out all the websites you can.
