PCOS-Hypothyroidism-Pregnant

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone know. I was diagnosed with PCOS in March of this year (2000), because of my wacked up LH and FSH, amennorhea, and anovulatory cycles.

I started seeing a physician who prescribed a low carb diet, tested my Free T-3, and Free T-4 which he found in the low to normal ranges. All other doctors only tested my TSH to see if I had low thyroid. My Free T-4 came out normal, but my Free T-3 was way low. I have been on armour thyroid since July and have lost 75 lbs.

I had previously completed 5 treatments of chlomid and nothing happened. I also found out that not only did I loose weight but the armour thyroid helped me to ovulate for the first time in my life. Today I am 6 weeks pregnant, praise God. :)

I'm lucky that my mother is a nurse and went to a continuing education class taught by an endocrinologist from Seattle that knew of the other 2 thyroid tests. I suggest everyone with PCOS to have their Free T-3 and Free T-4 tested to find out if they may infact have hypothyroidism that causes their infertility and obesity!!!

My previous doctors just thought I was lazy, even though I ate healthy and ran 2 hours every night and never got below 165 lbs.

My pill regimen was 1 (30 ml) phentermine, 3 pills of L-tyrosine (an aminoacid), 4 (60 ml) grains of armour thyroid (a natural thyroid medication), and 2 5-HTP at night.

Don't ever give up on your search to finding a cure.
