PCOS & Weightloss

Hello all,

I am sooo relieved to find this message board! I was diagnosed with PCOS about 4 years ago, but nobody bothered to tell me the side affects and what I could do to help myself (except staying on the pill). It has only been through piling on the weight and desparately searching the net that I found out about following a low carb plan etc. I was put on metformin for 6mths after being diagnosed for 3 years and going through 4 doctors until one finally took me seriously, but the metformin only helped with weight loss and regular cycles for about 4mths - so I have been taken off it and left to my own devices and the pill. I have decided to come off the pill (less chemicals in my system the better), and am following the atkins diet and excercising 5x week. My weight loss is incredibly slow - extremely frustrating and knocks the self esteem around a bit!! Has anyone lost a significant amount of weight following the low carb diet, if so how long did it take?? In the meantime I shall keep persevering, better to come off incredibly slowly rather than piling it on!!!

Look forward to your replies!
