Kelly,

I asked my endo at my last visit what diet plan he recommended. He said that the best diet one can follow is the diabetic diet because it is well balanced. (I am not diabetic just insulin resistant and have PCOS.)

My husband and I started on it around 2-3 weeks ago and I have already lost 10 lbs. I am allowing myself 1600-1800 calories and following the exchanges for that caloric level. I am taking metformin and actos. (The metformin wasn't doing enough for my insulin level so my doctor added 30 mg of actos a day to my metformin to help.)

My husband is following the same diet as I am. He has lost almost 40 lbs. (Makes you sick doesn't it? LOL) I am thrilled at my weight loss (and his) because this is the first time in my life I have been able to lose any.

Go to the web page for the American Diabetic Association and look at the nutrition section there. It is a starting place and may give you some answers. Here is the web address: http://www.diabetes.org/

Good Luck, Sally
