Looking for help in WYOMINGFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netSat, 14 Oct 2000 12:37:16 EDT
Hi, my name is Jamie and I am in Cheyenne WY. I understand how you feel JO. I was diagnosed with pcos about 5 yrs ago, patted on the head and told, "dont worry, you can have a baby, but it will take some drug therapy..." My ob/gyn knew I have a family history of Diabetes (my mom and my moms sister are type 2 diabetics) and I am just finding out in the last few days that insulin plays a big role in pcos. I knew nothing of this syndrome and just decided to look it up on the net a few days ago. I was just a dumb kid when I was diagnosed, no one told me that getting my period once a year was bad...my friends told me I was blessed. I had no idea that left untreated that this could lead to life threatening illnessess later in life. At this moment I am without health insurance and dont trust the doctors in this podunk town anyway. From reading about the disease I decided to try a low carb diet ( the type 2 diabetes diet book) and went to the local herbalist and got vitex liquid (icky stuff). I figured I would try this before trying to find a doctor out of town. Do any of you ladies have any other suggestions? Thank-you, Jamie
