The thing, nobody's been able to keep it off (think about poor Oprah who's as insulin resistant as we are!!)and the weight comes pouring back and then some. Not to mention how screwed up their metabolisms were for a long time afterward. I'm not trying to scare you. It's just that you've suffered enough emotionally and physically with this damn condition, why put yourself potentially through more hell? Many PCOS women on glucophage (or not) do well, reverse their symptoms and lose weight just by lowering carb intake and curbing calorie intake slightly. There's got to be a better option for you!! As for a 3 month medical check up, that is normal. This is a serious condition that needs periodic monitoring. I've been seeing an RE for a year and half on 3 month intervals for mild PCOS symptoms, because I've reversed my PCOS symptoms with diet, exercise and glucophage, I've just graduated to appointments every six months. Hurray! Hope this helps. Please do your research on Optifast before you make a definitive decision.
