Hi, I was diagnosed with PCOS about 15 years ago. I was put on BCP and , while this "helped" me get my periods, it did not help with any of the other problems which would take me 13 more years to discover were symptoms of this syndrome. I spend a lot of time trying to research what the best options are to follow to try and prevent the serious health implications that may develop with this syndrome (i.e. diabetes particularly as every female on my father's side has it). I would like to know if anyone has looked at/used a book called The Glucose Revolution. It is different from the other books in that it does not classify carbs all as the same. It lists them based on their tested effect on blood sugar (blood glucose) levels. It seems to me that, if this syndrome is partly based on insulin-resistance, this factor may be just as relevant as knowing how many carbs you should be eating (aside from the fact that your choices are increased greatly!). I would just like to know if anyone has tried it or if it makes medical sense. Thank you, Sonya p.s. you may also want to know about a great low-carb cookbook called The Low-Carb Cookbook by Fran McCullough who teaches at the Culinary Institute of America. Great ideas!
