Re: pcos-research on the sugar buster dietFrom: lesley (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 19 Sep 2000 12:41:25 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Kelly, I have been following the sugar busters diet since the end of March, and so far have managed to loose 25 lbs. I haven't gotten headaches as yet from following the diet, except when I eat stuff which has sugar and stuff in it, then it starts feeling like a mild hangover.... I also used to spend hours and hours at the gym, but with no weight loss, and got bored of watching my % fat increase month after month after month, even when I was working out 2 or more hours a day. This is the only diet which has worked for me so far, after trying the usual low calorie/low fat diets, I was about ready to give up the thought of ever loosing any weight, but so far, so good on this diet. Although I would like to loose about another 55 lbs (preferably before I go and visit family next week :-) ) Also, my acne, which was far worse than any 31 year old should have, is about 95% cleared up, and I only tend to get the occasional zit which goes much faster than it used to. And in general, I feel sooo much better than I used to, pre sugar busters, especially as those carb cravings have disappeared now... I have never tried any other low carb diets, and only tried this one at the suggestion of my current doctor, so I can't give you any comparisons, sorry. But I would recomend that you get hold of a copy of the book, as it does explain insulin resistance very nicely, and give it a go, after all it may work for you.... Good luck
-- Lesley
