Dear OBGYN.net Advisors, Staff, Forum Members, and Sponsors,

I was inspired to write this little poem after Barbara, our Editor, called me tonight to tell me we had been written up Wednesday in The Wall Street Journal because of an interview they did with Dr. David Nagey of Johns Hopkins.

I hope you get a few smiles from my silliness. But all kidding aside, it sure was a great holiday present to all of us here at OBGYN.net World Headquarters in Austin, Texas!

I hope this post finds you all well and enjoying the holidays,

Fondly, Roberta

The Night Before Christmas at OBGYN.net

Twas the night before Christmas at OBGYN.net HQ I was sitting in my office with nothing to do.

The stockings weren't hung, no lights on the lawn, because Hannukah Harry's already come and gone.

My children were nestled in beds far and near, taking advantage of friend's Christmas cheer.

And I in my nightgown and Bruce in his shorts, had just settled down to have a few snorts.

When what to our wondering eyes should appear... But an article about OBGYN.net, a great close to the year.

An interview with Dr. Nagey in the Wall Street Journal His praise of our website made our hope spring eternal.

More rapid than eagles it's features they name... They whistled and shouted and called them by name!

Our forums, our images, our doctors, our users, the chat rooms, the Medline, no mention of losers.

>From the top of the page our virtues they call, to our dear OBGYN.netters we owe it all!!!

As dry leaves that before a wild hurricane do fly, when met with an obstacle, mount to the sky,

So up to their website our review flew... With a sleigh full of good PR, and Doctor Nagey too.

And then in a twinkling I felt in my heart, a swelling of gratitude for being a part,

of something much greater than I'd ever guessed, I knew in a moment that we had been blessed.

It had been dressed all in dreams when we started out, but now it was something we could all brag about.

The Holiday Edition, drawn up with a bow, We know where we've been, who knows where we'll go!

With a wink from our sponsors and a nod of their head, we finally know now we have nothing to dread.

We had spoke not a brag but keep straight to our work, trying to fill all our promises, and this article was our perk.

To give something back in "98" was a promise we chose, We had given our all thus the FIGO site rose.

FIGO sprang onto the Internet on Monday, beautiful and bright, Merry Christmas to all, thank you, and good night!

The David Nagey, MD interview excerpted from The Wall Street Journal article:

We asked a group of experts to help cut through the clutter. Below are the sites that they trust and recommend to patients:

David Nagey

Obstetrician and gynecologist,

specialist in high-risk fetal medicine

Johns Hopkins University School of

Medicine, Baltimore

For good basic information on pregnancy, neonatal and gynecological issues and ailments, Dr. Nagey recommends ObGyn . net (http://www. obgyn . net ), an independent commercial site that is overseen by an advisory board of more than a dozen doctors.

"It is a good, solid site," Dr. Nagey says. "They have articles written for the consumer, and it is a great way for patients to find support groups in a number of different areas."

ObGyn . net welcomes visitors with a funky solar system-inspired front page and has separate sections for doctors and patients. The site is also presented in Spanish and Portuguese -- with German on the way. There are medical articles and numerous chat rooms focusing on issues such as pregnancy, menopause and miscarriage. There is a free link to Medline, the database of medical journal articles, and an image library with dozens of graphic photos of all sorts of procedures.

Another general site with impeccable credentials, Dr. Nagey says, is the one run by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (http://www.acog. org). While a good portion of this site is restricted to doctors, there are dozens of brief online pamphlets covering contraception, childbirth, infertility and osteoporosis, and a database that lets you search for an ob/gyn in your area.
