*** Millions of women live under threat of violence Violence against women is the world's most pervasive form of human rights abuse, a United Nations report released Tuesday said. From genital mutilation in African nations and dowry killings in India to domestic violence in the United States, millions of women from every class and in every country live under the threat of physical abuse. The report found that more than 60 million women, who should be alive today, are "missing" because of violence associated with gender discrimination, predominantly in south and west Asia, China and North Africa.
