ALL SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING IS CANCELED but OPEN CHAT will be active throughout beta testing. READ ON... Well Gang, we got off to a shakey but interesting start last night. It was pretty lonely for me and Bruce at first but at one point we actually had Zach Newton, Bruce, Roberta, Barbara, Mary Shoup from the Women's Health Forum, Harvey Marchbein, Kevin the OBGYN.net Salesman, Jason Gardosi all in the "Jacuzzi" as Jason dubbed it, at the same time. Geff Klein, Karhleen (Walsh I think), and Sergio Ramos all tried unsuccessfully to join us. I know Geff's problem was a crashing machine. Sergio and Kathleen I am not sure of the problem. I spoke to Augustus Olmos today in the OBSTET-L Room (thankfully we breached etiquette and used English) It seems that it is not entirely obvious how to use the system. For example things as basic as where to type take a little while to figure out. I think in light of this we should be less ambitious about programming and just concentrate on learning and refining our system for the next month during beta testing. Then we will have a good foundation to build on. In light of that ALL SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING IS CANCELED. Instead we will have three one hour periods each day that we will try to meet in the rooms for practice. Those times are designed to be late evening in several different parts of the world. They are: 9:00-10:00 AM EDT 3:00-4:00 PM EDT 9:00-10:00 PM EDT We will use the room Free For All for this purpose and everyone is welcome to join in. Please send your questions and observations to speyer@obgyn.net and we will try to help. The biggest problems seem to be understanding how to download the iChat Plug-in, system crashing (yours not the server), and the number one problem; not knowing where/how to type in a message. The answers are: There is documentation on how to download the Ichat Plug-in on the site, READ IT. The Internet Tips and Tricks is a tutorial about how to download programs. This is a skill you need to develop anyway so take the time to read up on it. If you still need help email or call us at 512-451-2842 M-F 9-5 Central Time and we'll be glad to walk you through it. Crashing systems: we are working on this with the ichat people and will keep you posted. How to type/talk once you get there. At the bottom left of the screen is a little long empty frame. You have to click you cursor on that spot, type what you want to say, then type ENTER. Your message, and the replies from others will then appear in the scrollable frame above it. We will add this info in another obvious place in the screen. It is already in the marquee. Thank you for your patience while we work out the bugs. But come on in...once you get there it's a lot of fun and the water's fine! :-) Roberta
