A message from the the President of FIGO The invitation from the International Scientific Program Committee. FIGO The Fidiration Internationale de Gynicologie et d'Obstitrique is formed by 95 National Societies from all over the World. Every three years FIGO arranges a World Congress. Election of Officers and Executive Board takes place at the General Assembly which is held during the Congress. Reports from the different committees and working groups are presented and the Plan of Action for the coming period is discussed. The two sessions of the General Assembly are held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and all participants are welcome to attend the meeting as observers. FIGO 97 - NFOG Fellowship Programme FIGO and NFOG (Federation of Scandinavian Societies of Gynaecology and Obstetrics) have organised a fellowship programme with the financial support of National Societies and Foundations to enable young obstetricians and gynaecologists from developing countries to spend two weeks in a department in a Scandinavian country and to participate in the World Congress. The deadline for applications was earlier this year and the fellows are being selected among more than 200 applicants. SOFIGO Obstetricians and gynaecologists who are interested in the activity of FIGO and want to create contacts with colleagues outside their own countries can become individual professional members of SOFIGO (International Association of Supporters of FIGO). The members receive FIGO reports and publications including the FIGO Newsletter and the International Journal of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (12 issues per year). The Bella Center is easily accessible by car, as it is just off the highway, and offers ample parking space, complimentary for all delegates. The Bella Center is situated in the southern part of Copenhagen - fifteen minutes from the City center and ten minutes from the airport. Congress Languages The official languages of the XV FIGO World Congress are English, French and Spanish. There will be simultaneous interpretation from English into French and Spanish for Frontline Lectures, Keynote Addresses and some Plenary Sessions.
