Maternity and the newbornFrom: Dr. Basil Lee (basil_lee@lineone.net)Sat, 4 Aug 2001 01:58:47 -0500 (CDT)
The Forum on Maternity and the Newborn of the Royal Society of Medicine wishes to arrange international meetings with similar groups in Europe. We see ourselves as a forum for the presentation and discussion of issues at the cutting edge of pregnancy, birth, and care of the newborn. Meetings are held five times in an annual session, usually starting at 6.00 p.m. weekdays, and including a whole-day meeting annually. They are open to members without charge and to paying guests. A high priority is given to discussion - one hour of the total two and a half hours. The membership of the Forum is multidisciplinary; midwives are in the majority, but health visitors, obstetricians, paediatricians, physiotherapists, family doctors, psychologists and psychoanalysts and others also attend. The meeting format consists of 25-minute presentations and a lot of discussion time. Reports of the meetings are published in the journal of the Royal College of Midwives. I will be grateful if you can put me in touch with as many similar groups anywhere in Europe as possible. Thanks in hope.
