To me it seems that the difference between plastic surgery and obstetrics is that the risks of surgery are in different dimensions. Even a breast enlargement or reduction doesn't carry the risks of an elective caesar. The trouble is that at present there have been voices telling people that there are no or little risks and that it is the patient's right to choose. I only give the patient the right to choose when I think the risks and benefits are equal for the two procedures. I think it is my job as a specialist to weigh up those risks and benefits and present them as clearly as possible.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
