Continuous BCPs have been used since the 70's, for treatment of endometriosis, prior to many of the options we have today. Speroff refers to an article in Fertility & Sterility: Kistner, RW, "Management of endometriosis in the infertile patient," Fertil Steril 26:1151, 1975. Using continuous BCPs to manage a patient's cycles around weddings and other conveniences/inconveniences has been a common practice since I began my residency in 1975.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
