Bottom line with brachial plexus injury: 1) you can't accurately predict it 2) you subject way too many women to the risk of surgery when advocating elective cesarean for macrosomia 3) even with correctly performed maneuvers, there is still a risk for permanent neurologic injury.. Can you say, "Rock and a hard place?" The practitioner who delivers enough babies will eventually be labeled incompetent by the questions that these web sites tell you to ask. You see, any person that is the "victim" of an unforseen complication, even if managed correctly, can get themselves a web page and spout off to the world without any regard to scientific validity. If we were to listen to the advice of these people, there would be a whole new crop of unneccesary cesarean web pages.. Gimme a break... Sorry, we only had decaf this morning.. :) _______________________ Geffrey H. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
