Caesarean for anencephalyFrom: Madhumita Roy (madhumita_roy@hotmail.com)Mon Oct 11 08:24:24 1999
This case teaches us another lesson - never leave such a decision until late in the pregnancy (unless of course the abnormality was detected late). I think it is unfair to care for a woman until term and then tell her to go to another doctor (as some of the listers have suggested). This case has taught me to be aware of similar dilemmas in the future and I would certainly counsel any such woman early in her pregnancy than to leave it until late. Rupak Ranjan Roy MD, MRCOG

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
