Re: case: 34 yo, MR, primary amenorrheaFrom: Braun, R. Daniel (rbraun@iupui.edu)Sat Oct 2 06:17:12 1999
You need to rule out serious causes (Prolactinoma) Time has already ruled out CAH. RDB R. Daniel Braun, MD FACOG Clinical Professor Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Indiana U. School of Medicine Indianapolis, IN 46202 OBGYN.net International Representative for United States -----Original Message----- From: tessler@frontiernet.net [mailto:tessler@frontiernet.net] Sent: Friday, October 01, 1999 8:42 AM To: Multiple recipients of list OB-GYN-L Subject: case: 34 yo, MR, primary amenorrhea A mentally retarded, 34 year old patient new to our practice, living in a group home, no family involvement, no history available to explain her alleged primary amenorrhea. Limited GYN exam (blind vaginal Pap, one finger bimanual exam, external visual inspection of genitalia, breasts, thyroid and neck) WNL. Client sees house doctor for "everything but Pap." Would you begin workup to determine cause of amenorrhea, or is the point moot in a 34 year old? Thanks in advance for your opinions.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
