Failed Resectoscope Myomectomy Perforated UterusFrom: Claudia (tmcnall@wyle.com)Tue Aug 31 13:45:51 1999
Last Thursday while trying to remove a pedunculated submucosal fibriod my doctor perforated the uterus. This was her first perforation and she was not a happy camper! Upon laproscopic repair I was sent home after receiving the first of 3 luprin injections to shrink the large fibroid which fills the entire uterus. My doctor says the next problem is the fact that the stalk is just barely inside the uterus on the right side and will be difficult to get because the vents near the end of the scope will be in the cervical canal and blocked when the electrode is at the stalk. She's thinking of using 2nd team on laproscopy to help guide the scope or possibly using ultrasound. She hopes to be able to shave away at the fibroid and then be better able to get at the difficult stalk location. We're also thinking of a second sonohystogram and a slow overnight preop dialation. We're seeking second opinion as I am 38 and have never had children and would like to prevent hysterectomy. Any ideas out there?
