Re: Finasteride in pregnancyFrom: James Brodribb (jkbrod@ozemail.com.au)Sat Aug 28 21:43:24 1999
Finasteride was prescribed by a GP for hirsuitism, and she was counselled to use contraception, advice she chose to ignore. This drug is not released in Aust. for this purpose. Single , 40 and no desire to have children and now 13 weeks! The makers MS&D have no human data, so evidence is animal based as pointed out. External genitalia appears to be the only problem so will test for karyotype of infant(risk for Down's increased) and counsel appropriately. Thanks for input

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
