Re: intravaginal compresses forgottenFrom: D. Ashley Hill, M.D. (dahmd@mpinet.net)Mon Aug 23 06:01:23 1999
A somewhat similar situation: A few years ago a new patient presented for surgical follow-up. She had recently undergone a laparoscopic lysis of adhesions (by another physician), and reported persistent postoperative vaginal pain, particularly when walking and having a bowel movement. She reportedly called her doctor repeatedly, but was "told this was normal." About 2 weeks post-op she passed a black, conical object with a thin metallic tip vaginally...the end of an acorn cannula! She had no obvious long-term effects from this, but she refused to go back to the operating physician. Good luck with your situation.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
