Re: intravaginal lost and foundFrom: Freda Seddon (fseddon@interlog.com)Sun Aug 22 21:54:33 1999
I had an unusual experience as a student midwife. A fellow student and I went to do a routine home postpartum visit for a woman who had care at one of the very expensive private hospitals in London, sometimes used for "royal" births. The woman complained of a foul odour with her lochia, BTW she had an elective section for breech. When I was viewing her perineum prepatory to performing a vaginal swab, I noticed a creamy object. Using a flash light and a pair of tissue forceps I delivered a finger section of a surgical glove. Not just the tip but from the base of the glove The cultures came back negative, but it made me wonder what had happened. We showed the woman what had been in her vagina and heard no more about it. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
