Re: Pregnancy,liver transplant.C.M.V +IgMFrom: Carlos Agustin Wolff M.D. (carwolff@infovia.com.ar)Wed Aug 4 10:35:57 1999
We are writing with regard to one of our patients. She is 25 years old, G2 P0 A1 (spontaneus) LMP 19/05/1999 DOD 23/02/2000, and is now in her 11th week of pregnancy. In 1997 her liver had to be removed and transplanted due to a cirrosis from a persistent chronic hepatitis. She is under inmunosupression and nifedipina treatment. Besides she has tested positive to CMV (Ig G + Ig M +) In 1997 she recived vancyclovir intravenously during 25 days. Now she remain +IgM +IgG We would like to know: 1- What if any, are the posible consequences for the fetus of the inmunosupression treatment the mother has undergone? 2- Why does she get Ig M+ against CMV after two years of treatment? Has the virus become active again? 3- What is the course of action, treatment recommended during pregnancy, birth and post natal care? 4- Would you be so kind as to send us any bibliography that would help us in the treatment and care of this patient? The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
