Do you have any data(references) on the use of serum estradiol levels to assure prevention of bone loss?

Before changing dosage, which is agreed as appropriate in some, a check of serum E2 is worthwhile (with notation of time of last dosage stated by patient and time of specimen harvest). If sub-theraputic value (I figure <60 pg/ml if dosed in previous 24 hrs), time to up dosage.

Then there is involutional and metabolic disorder bone mass loss, independent of the influence of estrogen/calcium load. At some point, particularly with E2 in therapeutic range, it is time to add Fosamax, with newer drugs in the pipeline.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
