I don't treat or prep the area since you are already committed to operating in an infected field. Was taught not to stitch through the rectal mucosa but do a 2 layer 4-0 vicryl stitch. It was also emphasized to me to give approximation not necrosis, and to close any potential dead space especially after repair of the rectal mucosa and the sphincter.
