Voltarol (diclofenac) & Caesarean SectionFrom: AlexPirie MRCP MRCOG (amp@FreeUK.com)Fri Apr 23 18:54:39 1999
PR Voltarol is often witheld at emergency c-section, if the patient is under GA, and has not given specific consent. This is based on a legal case, but the difference was the operation was in a dentists chair, and the patient expected the procedure to be done fully clothed. Do you think that giving consent for the c-section implies consent for the rectal administration of quality post-op analgesia as well, or should pain relief be witheld on the grounds of a defensive technicality?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
