Admittedly a small study; but, I have had 5 patients now on progesterone creme who, due to my concern about protection of the uterus, agreed to have progesterone levels measured. All of them had levels that were negligible in the range of .05, clearly showing, as I suspected, that there was no absorption. The patients were perplexed, but I asked them if by rubbing Nivea cream on their legs we might find levels of Nivea cream or its components in their blood, and that comparison seemed to help their understanding. The skin is a barrier; and, it does a good job.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
