I don't do it *routinely* but I do use acetic acid if there is any area of the vulvar skin which may or may not be HPV, or if the woman has vulvodynia.

If a vulvar lesion which I suspect is HPV turns acetowhite, I will tx w/ TCA/BCA once only. Anything that doesn't go away or comes back gets referred for biopsy.

If the woman has c/o of vulvodynia which has baffled everyone, and areas of the vulva which have point sensativity are also aceto white, I refer to one of my gynecologist colleagues.
