Re: Anesthesia for Emergency CesareanFrom: Efrain Ramirez MD (eramirez@icepr.com)Wed Mar 24 06:23:17 1999
el ..it depends on the indication for the emergency C/S...in a ruptured uterus it would be unwise... Look...everybody knows that "emergency C/S" has many meanings. You may call an emergency C/S for a non reassuring fetal status and can do it with spinal (hypnosis or acupuncture if you are good at it :-)) if the baby responded adequately to intrauterine resuscitation. But with a ruptured uterus, vasa previa, masive abruptio...you do not fool around. Some spinals may look like acupunctures even in expert, experienced hands ! :-)

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
