Re: GDM screeningFrom: Betsy Hyde (elishyde@connix.com)Mon Mar 22 17:26:15 1999
1) preload for 2 days before 3 hr GTT 2) do weekly BPPs on gestational diabetics, whether they are on insulin or not 3) If you have a pt with abnormal 1 hr test but normal 3 hr GTT, do you still check their fasting or postprandial glucose? no, but.....we do use some of our clinical judgement here. Recently had a woman who was overweight, had abnormal 1 hr test, 1 abnormal value on 3 hr (therefore, a normal 3 hr) but was S>D. U/S showed increased fluid and fetus in 99%ile at 32 weeks. So we did check her FBS/2hr PP which were normal.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
