You can start from here.

http://www.obgyn.net/english/ob/MisoprostolProtocol.htm

Art is right..Luis is the man. Luis Sánchez-Ramos has a lot of experience with it.

In our institution we are using Misoprostol since about a year with very good results. (skyrocketing prices of Prostin...besides it is a GOOD drug)

We do about 300 deliveries/month..large % of inductions.

We do not recommend it on VBAC's..due to recent events at USC…(I personally believe misoprostol had nothing to do with those bad outcomes but….)

Do not use K-Y jelly.

Terbutaline use is rare, in contrast with Prostin gel. Misoprostol causes tachysystole…rarely hyperstimulation.

Feel free to e-mail me for further assitance. Don't forget to ask Luis...

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
