Re: anal fissures - clinical studyFrom: Gail Waldby, MD (gwaldby@willinet.net)Thu Mar 11 05:42:27 1999
Norman Sohn (New York City Colorectal surgeon) has developed a possibly better treatment for anal fissures that don't heal with medical treatment. He is using controlled anal balloon dilation with a 4 cm wide 6 cm long balloon inflated to 20 psi for 6 minutes. The results with nitroglycerin ointment are variable--some claim success, some get headaches and many state they are not helped. Gail Waldby, MD Huron Clinic SD

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
