anal fissures - clinical studyFrom: Dr. Mike Crowley (mcrowley@cellegy.com)Wed Mar 10 17:38:50 1999
Cellegy Pharmaceuticals is conducting a Phase III clinical trial for a nitroglycerin ointment (Anogesic®) that promotes the healing of chronic anal fissures, a condition typically treated by surgery. The efficacy of nitroglycerin treatment of anal fissures has been demonstrated in several scientific studies (e.g. Lund et al., Lancet, 1997, 349:9044, 11-14). However, the proper dose and dosing interval of nitroglycerin required for healing of anal fissures have not been established. Our trial is designed to determine these parameters. This is a national, multicenter study. For more information and a list of study centers please visit Cellegy Pharmaceuticals on the Internet at: http://cellegy.com/corp/clinical_trial.html If you are located near a study center, please consider referring patients suffering from a chronic anal fissure, one lasting greater than 30 days, to this study. Thank you for your interest.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
