I have done this for years, and found, unfortunately, that it doesn't make much difference. It is much like breastfeeding, where people make up their minds long before pregnancy. Occasionally, I get a couple who really wants information to make and informed choice, but most of them don't.

If the procedure were considered cosmetic, elective surgery by the insurance companies and Medicaid in the US, and the cost had to be borne by the parents, I think we might see the rate come down.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
