Ah, yes this is something all endoscopic surgeons have experienced... The "venting of the evil humors (or humours depending on which side of the pond you're on)" and voila! the pain is gone.

I used to think it could be related to previously unelicited patient fear of cancer or "finding something bad" inside but I've seen this phenomenon even with patients who denied anxiety over possible findings.
